I've meant to make a Portal 2 fanart for a REALLY long time now ever since I completed the game. As you can imagine though drawing robotic characters can be insanely difficult with all their intricately designed metal parts and wires etc.
Due to a slight issue lately with drawing (slight artblock) and the need to practice my digital painting approach I ended up semi-tracing this image I found on google:- [link]
No, I don't think it's "cheating" just to it lay out there before people jump on me with pitch forks for comitting such an act. Infact, what I just done here is probably the equivelent to someone colouring an already drawn lineart from another artist. Only it's a little more complicated since you're not relying on already drawn lines but working with a 3D rendered scene from a video game.
One thing I learnt through painting this though is how simplicity with colours can be pretty effective, there's not always a need to add too many different tones while shading with one colour. Which is something I tend to do a lot and find myself having several coloured tones to deal with when digital painting, instead of in this case about 2 tones for each colour used (roughly). Still learning though!
Also, I just love GLaDOS. I dunno why considering how much she wanted to kill me but there's just something that lingers about her character that makes her so awesome. Especially after completing Portal 2.
This is amazing. I love the colours and you really captured her "face". One of the best game experiences ever. I wish there were more games making the villain as memorable as GLaDOS. Faved-
She's honestly the best villain I've ever seen
