Lombardi's Story

Listen here, yeah? I ain't just some angry bird. No no no, when I'm mad I got some damn good reason, so when I'm mad, people sit down and listen. Well guess what? I'm mad right now, so how 'bout ya sit down and listen? Yeah, I thought so too. People have been wonderin' where the great Lombardi happened to come from, so I thought I'd take a break for, you know, bein' awesome to tell ya. Pay attention!

I was the blackbird of the litter if y' know what I mean. My family? They were the quiet n' serious types. Now don't get me wrong, there ain't nothin' wrong with that, you gotta have someone around to draw the line if things get out of wing, but the thing is that they expected me to fall behind that line too. Yeah well I'm a free bird in more way than one. No matter how much they wanted to keep me pinned in with "obeyin' the flock" and "thinkin' of the land" they couldn't wrap it 'round their heads that I wasn't the type to sit down and listen. Ya know, like you.

Life was pretty damn swell if I do say so myself. Nice home, nice berries, and nice family. I mean, yeah, they were a bunch o' prudes but it wasn't like they hated me or nothin'. They were nice birds, ya understand? What ya probably don't understand is that the life was pretty damn swell but it was also pretty damn borin'. It was just "wake up, eat food, go explore, get told off by Dad, sleep, repeat." Now again, I hear ya - some people like that sort o' stuff, and I hear Shui was right up with that kind o' life. But hey, different strokes, different folks, and I was a different folk. After one, uh, particularly heated argument with the gang, I just knew that I had to fly on out n' see what the world had for me. So I did that, nice and quick.

It was great to see somethin' other than just my little forest. The human towns and suburbs and the mountains to the west and the ocean... Oh man, did I ever tell ya how much I love a good beach? I was on top of da world. Problem is when you're on da top, you got nowhere to go but down. Didn't take long till I was sittin' on some scummy rooftop with nothin' to eat and nobody to talk to. I'm gonna be completely level with you here and say that I was scared. Just don't tell anyone else, right? So after another day of seein' any sights but not seein' any dinner, I knew I had to fly on back to the gang. That is, ya know, if they were gonna have me back.

They did. Yeah I know, sounds a bit "anti-climatic" as Skye would say, but that's what happened. I came back, they forgave me and everythin' was cool again. I'm thinkin' that it was because they knew I was just gonna go back to bein' a free bird, and hey, guess what? Turns out they were right. Now I'm seein' da sights again with Skye and the others, but this time I ain't got to do it alone. I mean yeah, I'm cool enough to stand alone but since then I've figured that it's even cooler to be standin' with others.

Now stop sittin' down and stop listenin', cause I'm done, newbie.

Updated this deviation with a better drawing. I'll just place the last drawing in the scraps or something Just quicker that way. Used a different method to my usual digital painting, need to practice it some more really.
