Cyndaquil uses Flame Wheel

Homg I had so much fun with this one! <D I really enjoyed creating the flame, it's probably not 100% right though. Used another method of colouring this time, the natural brushes in SAI were used to mix the colours and to create a form of texture, then I used the Airbrush tool to help smooth out the textures and to help along the definition of light and shadow.

A few people in my recent poll suggested drawing this Pokemon and I was really up for the idea straight away, he's such a cutey <3

Hope ya all like it :)

Daaaang. There has been such a resurgence in Pokemon art, and although there are a lot of duds, there are also a staggering amount of beautiful work, this piece included.

You managed to balance the line work and how the creatures were colored so well! I'm especially loving how the fire reflected on his skin has reds, blues, and yellows in it, not just a simple slap of color on there.

The fire, which I think you weren't so hot about (get it), is probably the only issue; it's handled so painterly, with form building up with the brushes, contrasts with the clean line work on the pokemon itself. You can either try to include bounding lines on the flame (not a great idea), or you can cut back on the lines on the pokemon (a better idea). I'm not TOO bothered by it, definitely not enough for you to change the piece, but it's something to keep in mind the next time you do something like this.

All and all, it's a great piece, and you should be proud of it.
